|The Heart and Stroke Foundation Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery will hold its 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting on June 11 and 12 in beautiful Gatineau, Quebec — just across the Champlain Bridge from central Ottawa and about 20 minutes by car from the Ottawa airport.
The goal of the meeting is:
- to learn the latest research findings within CPSR;
- to exchange ideas; and,
- to promote scientific collaboration and networking.
The Annual Scientific Meeting gets underway at 8 am on Monday, June 11. A block of rooms at the hotel has been reserved for Sunday, June 10 and Monday, June 11.
Monday, June 11:
On Monday, a series of scientific sessions and research updates will run throughout the day, followed by a poster session and barbecue. The keynote speaker on Monday is Prof. Theresa Jones of the University of Texas at Austin, who will speak about maladaptive neuronal plasticity, learned non-use, and the assessment of compensation versus recovery.
Tuesday, June 12:
The meeting begins at 8:30 am with keynote speaker Prof. Catherine Lang of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She will speak about defining optimal doses of rehabilitation and she will describe how exercise can improve both cognition and motor recovery. Prof. Lang’s talk will be followed by scientific updates and the Top 5 trainee presentations. The meeting concludes at noon on Tuesday.
